I’ve always loved to write, ever since I was young. Reading and writing are passions of mine. A few years ago I began to write poetry, and found it to be a great creative outlet for my innermost thoughts and feelings. I thought I should share it on my blog for those who want to read.
Your Love
If I’m taken before long,
I pray your lips are the last thing I taste,
Your eyes are the last thing I see,
Your laugh the last thing I hear,
And your love –
Your love is my last notion of this life as I journey to the next.
It Answers
“Are you covered in bruises, or do you feel strong?” – I ask.
“Yes”, it answers.
“Are you dark and cold with loss, or do you feel hope?” – I ask.
“Yes”, it answers.
“Are you empty and small, or do you feel like home?” – I ask.
“Yes”, it answers.
“I am all, as you are all”, it answers.
Two Thieves
Your heart is the last thing I stole.
With it, I now finally feel whole.
You still steal my breath away when you flash me that smile.
If I am blessed, I hope one day –
Far away, in a while
I’ll steal your last glance and snatch your last thought.
We must go together else I fear I will haunt,
You stole my heart first, but pray I’ll steal your last kiss,
As I hold you close whilst we journey into bliss.
Death Draws Near
As she lay,
In disarray,
She found herself without breath.
For ‘twas taken from her,
And shaken was her,
See, she neared facing death.
She lay and thought,
‘Death once had I sought,
While I walked through the longest war.
If now must be my time,
Is it such a crime,
To wish for a moment more?’
Flame
Your eyes like fire,
Their heat ignites a spark.
The warmth of the flame draws me in,
I never knew my own chill.
Our lips near, our breaths become one.
A single kiss…
A lone flame becomes a blaze.
You pull me closer as my eyes close.
We fall deeper,
And deeper still.
The Abyss
Slowly I sink into the abyss.
My eyes look up to the fading sunlight.
The darkness welcomes me with a soulless grin. “ I knew you would return.”
He says,
I look into his midnight eyes and see nothing, not even myself.
The abyss is a place of fear, of despair, of death.
I haven’t the strength to fight its clutches and so I drift to the bottom
And draw still.
It engulfs me and entwines itself into my mind.
I forget my own name.
I wait for a light that will never come.
