Munich

One Day in

Munich, Germany

On my rerouted trip back to Vienna, I spent one day in Konstanz, and was lucky enough to have my German friend as my own personal tour guide. It is a beautiful seaside city, right on the German/Swiss border. It’s so close in fact, that we walked to the border and had a foot in both countries!

We explored the old town, visited the Munster Unserer Lieben Frau, went to the market, and spent time in the sun by the lake.

Next, I headed to Munich, my favourite place I’ve travelled to in Germany. The city very much reminded me of Vienna, with its cultural/artsy vibes and beautiful architecture. I went to the Marienplatz (the main square), visited the Eglise du Saint-Esprit and stopped for lunch at the Viktualienmarkt.

I also visited the most beautiful church I’ve visited so far, the Asamkirche. Although not the biggest church, it so intricately detailed and ornate that it took my breath away when I entered. If there’s one church I’d recommend visiting in Munich, it would be the Asamkirche.

My last stop in Munich was the Englischer Garten, which is one of the largest urban parks in the world. Some of it’s most notable features are the beautiful rolling hills, 78km worth of cycling and jogging paths, a small temple-like building with an excellent view, and two surfing locations at the ends of the river running through it.
