Welcome to my blog!
Getting this blog started took longer than I thought — but here it is.
Hey, I’m Amber — a 24-year-old Kiwi who’s been living overseas for the past 8 months. When I first started this blog, I planned to update it with each new place I traveled to. But as you’ll find out, my journey hasn’t exactly gone according to plan.
Last winter, I packed up my life and walked away from a relationship that no longer felt right. Over the next couple of months, everything changed. I re-homed our cat to a loving family, road-tripped around the North Island, met incredible people and went to my first festival. I felt judged by some, supported by others, and at times, more alone than I’d ever felt before. Those months were some of the hardest of my life, but I don’t regret any of it. Through the lows, I experienced even higher highs. I had so much fun, learned more about myself, and figured out what I really value — not just in myself but in my relationships going forward.
I had already planned to travel in 2024, but it turned out to be the perfect break I needed from New Zealand’s chaos. I needed some space to clear my head, gain perspective, and experience the world on my own. At the end of July, I kicked off my solo travels in Canada and then headed to Austria to start my European adventure. This was my first solo trip, and for someone who’s always been afraid of being alone, choosing to travel solo is something I’m really proud of.
Austria led me to Switzerland, then Germany, and eventually a group tour through Central Europe. What was supposed to be a four-week adventure before heading to the UK ended up turning into four months — a mix of good and bad luck that kept me exploring far longer than I’d planned.
Now that I’m settled in the UK, I’m finally ready to sit down and write about all the incredible, challenging, and sometimes unexpected experiences I’ve had. Honestly, up until recently, I wasn’t sure I would continue with this blog. I didn’t know if I had the energy to be creative, and I worried it might become a chore. But after meeting so many other travelers, each with their own way of capturing their journeys, I realized I’d regret not documenting mine. I love looking back on my travel photos, and I know I’ll feel the same about this blog — if I don’t take the time to share it now, I’ll wish I had later. So, here we are!
I hope you enjoy following along x
